On Thursday, September 28th the Family YMCA at Tarrytown hosted its 4th annual Circle of Caring at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill Mansion from 7 - 10 p.m. Guests enjoyed an elegant, in-person cocktail party with passed hors d’ oeuvres and stations, scrumptious cocktails, gorgeous views of the Hudson River, dancing, a silent auction and more!
Thanks to our supporters we raised over $85,000. We were joined by Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins who presented our Laurance S. Rockefeller Award Recipients, the Plunketts, with a Proclamation for their service to the community. Lucy Waletsky Rockefeller, daughter of Laurance S. Rockefeller, introduced Kevin and Rosemary and the Y also honored the Rossi Family with the first-ever Len Andrew Community Spirit Award for their generosity to the Y!

The Family YMCA at Tarrytown is honored to present the Laurance S. Rockefeller Award to Rosemary and Kevin Plunkett for their dedication to the Rivertowns.
Rosemary Plunkett, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, a mother of five and a grandmother to nine, has always been invested in her community of Tarrytown. Rosemary has a Master of Early Education from Fordham University and has taught preschool and elementary school-age children locally for over 25 years. She has been heavily involved in the Rivertowns and is a member of the Junior League of Westchester and served as a board member of the Donald Reed Speech Center for eight years. Additionally, Rosemary is a Eucharistic Minister at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown and is part of their Twinning Ministry which connects with a parish in El Salvador. She also volunteers as a teacher in the Parish School of Religion at Transfiguration and has worked with Open Door to collect items for their Baby Bundle Project.
She along with her husband, Kevin Plunkett have been strong supporters of Phelps Hospital/Northwell Health and were instrumental in one of the most successful fundraising efforts the hospital has hosted in recent years, the 2021 Champagne Ball where Kevin served as co-chair. In 2022 Kevin was elected as the hospital’s Community Board Chair.
Kevin as well has been dedicated to his community and has a long and distinguished career in both the public and private sectors, having served as Deputy County Executive of Westchester from 2010-2018. He is currently the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Simone Development Companies, a full-service real estate development company. Kevin, who has practiced law for more than four decades, began his law career in 1975 as an Assistant District Attorney for Westchester County. He later joined the law firm of Plunkett & Jaffe where he was an equity member of the firm for more than 20 years. He became a partner in the international law firm of Thacher Proffitt & Wood from 2000 to 2008. Prior to becoming Deputy County Executive, he was a partner in the regional law firm of DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise and Wiederkehr. Throughout his law career, Kevin has represented numerous governmental entities including the Villages of Tarrytown, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Mamaroneck and the City of Rye. He is a former board member of the New York State Thruway Authority/Canal Corporation, Taconic State Park Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission, New York League of Conservation Voters and the Greenway Conservancy for the Hudson River. He served on four Governor Judicial Screening committees from 1997 to 2017 and served as chairman from 1997 to 2006. Well-known in Westchester’s business and not-for-profit community, Kevin has served on various public bank boards, most recently on the board of Tompkins Mahopac Bank and is currently the chair of the Tompkins Community Bank Development Board. Additionally, he has served on the boards of numerous not-for-profit and educational institutions including ArtsWestchester, Westchester ARC Foundation and Iona College. Kevin is a lifelong resident of Tarrytown and he and Rosemary have supported and been members of the Family YMCA at Tarrytown for many years.
