LEAPS Enrichment Program at Washington Irving Intermediate School

Get ready to move, groove, and have fun in this energetic Hip Hop dance class! This class will teach basic hip hop moves, fun choreography, and freestyle techniques. Kids will build confidence, coordination, and rhythm while dancing to popular music in a supportive and creative environment. No experience needed—just bring your energy and love for music!

Come and spark imaginative learning with some Mad chemistry. Watch as we combine elements and make them fizz, crackle and change color! We;ll delve into molecules and chemical reactions that produce light, gas and even slime. Lab Works, Junior Reactors, p.H. Phactor, Slime Time, The Glow Show, Dry Ice Capades, Icy Sticky Stuff, Chemistry Corner, The Mystery of Chem and Kitchen Chemistry.

Dive into video game design using MIT’s Scratch and Microsoft’s Arcade MakeCode platforms. Drag-and-Drop block coding makes fundamental computer science concepts accessible to all. Without having to type their code, students are able to make imaginative and impressive games in no time.

Using TinkerCAD, accessible software purpose-built for kids, we’ll create name tags, buildings, vehicles and more! 3D Design assists students to develop spatial awareness, sequence based thinking, creativity, and more. This enrollment includes a take-home 3D print every other class that the student designed themselves.
